S.O.R.M Release Brand New Single featuring DOUG BLAIR of W.A.S.P

Rising hard rock outfit S.O.R.M has just dropped a powerful new single, featuring legendary Doug Blair of W.A.S.P. The track, titled “Under My Skin”, showcases the band’s signature blend of contemporary and traditional heavy music, with a touch of power ballad magic.

“I am very proud of a collaboration that began already 2 years ago, when Micke Holm asked if I’d contribute a lead to a track being recorded by his band S.O.R.M”, says Doug Blair.
“I’d met Micke a while after he purchased the very last unsold 1990s BLAIR MUTANT TWIN double neck acoustic/electric guitar, which I delivered to his colleague in Stockholm. We’ve performed together quite a few times since then, in Sweden and Finland, as a duo and with the S.O.R.M Band. It’s been great to know the guys, and be involved a bit in their growth!”

He continues:

“Cautiously agreeing to take a listen to a song (always being naturally skeptical), ‘Under My Skin’ enthralled on first listen! Micke’s vocal delivery, the lyrics and dynamics of the arrangement all made me PUMPED UP to craft something cool for the emotional solo section. Last year, we finally found time to meet and mix the song in Stockholm – as I had requested (and demoed) a few effective overall arrangement/dynamics ideas, which I thought would improve the results! If you enjoy my leads on “Heaven’s Hung”, “Miss You”, etc., you WILL enjoy this song and lead! Give these guys a listen, and soon l’ll announce an upcoming appearance with Micke again!”

Guitarist and vocalist Micke Holm about the track:

“This version of ‘Under My Skin’ was the original version of the song from the beginning. It was meant to be on the album but unfortunately was not finished in time. That’s why we did a piano version for the record. In this power ballad version, we have the honor to work with Doug Blair from the legendary W.A.S.P and Anna Brygård from The Nightflight Orchestra.”

Furthermore, this song in particular is a very special piece of music for guitarist and singer Micke Holm, as the band reveals: “Under My Skin is a very personal song to Micke. It’s about him battling with depression and suicidal anxiety for many years. And it’s also a reminder to all you who have anxiety or know someone who has, that you’re not alone! We are all brothers and sisters battling the same war!”

rmed in 2017, S.O.R.M quickly made a name for themselves with their hook-laden EP Hellraiser (2020). With influences ranging from Grand Magus to Ghost and Judas Priest, S.O.R.M has carved out a unique sound that appeals to a wide heavy music audience. The band, consisting of Micke Holm on guitar and vocals, Johan Östman on bass, and Robin Wernebratt on drums, signed with Noble Demon in 2020 and released their debut full-length record in August 2023. Tracks like “I Die For My Rock N Roll” (feat. Dee Snider guitarist Nick Petrino) and “Crazy” have already garnered attention from fans and critics alike and with their latest single featuring Doug Blair of W.A.S.P, the band continues to set the bar high – in S.O.R.M style!

Nita Strauss in Angola

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 39 Second

Nita Strauss’ Winter Wasteland Tour made its final 1st leg stop at Angola, Ind.’s Eclectic Room before some much-needed time off after doing 30 shows in 38 days. For those who do not one of the top female guitar players in the world, her stage energy is absolutely off the charts and she’s also one of the guitarists for Alice Cooper’s band.

She started touring with her own band at the age of 14, leaving high school her junior year to pursue music like many other musicians have before her. She was initially known for her work in the all-female tribute Iron Maiden tribute band, The Iron Maidens, but has also performed with several rock bands. Strauss has also been featured in several other ventures involving WWE.

Opening the show was former Soulfly guitarist, Marc Rizzo, who has also released four solo instrumental albums and for this show being 80% instrumental it was a great way to start. Rizzo shredded his solo instrumental off his latest album- Living Shred Volume 1- and shred he did and, as a special treat for the fans in attendance, he played a Sepultura track joined by Strauss drummer and Manager, Josh Villalta.

Black Satellite took the stage next and really showed their NYC flare with lead vocalist Larissa Vale wearing her spiked jacket and big black boots. She showed the style and hearing the vocals that Vale belted out with her classic microphone set the tone for Strauss to finish off the show.

From the moment Strauss stepped onto the stage, the energy was high and she immediately started shredding. Joined by a full band, she would play her instrumental tunes off her Controlled Chaos album, “Our Darkest Hour” and title track “Controlled Chaos” as well as her latest and first track with guest vocals, “Dead Inside” which features David Draiman. Though he was not live in person for the song it was still cool to hear it performed.

Ice Nine Kills invades Fort Wayne

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 13 Second

Ice Nine Kills brought their “Hip to be Scared” tour to world famous Piere’s in Fort Wayne Indiana to promote their current album Silver Scream 2, Welcome to Horrorwood to a sold-out show of 2000 plus fans from not only Fort Wayne, but Florida, Kentucky, Ohio and few other places as well, INK has a great following and their hard-core fans sure showed and showed out for them on this night.

Ice Nine Kills is an American heavy metal band from Boston Massachusetts signed to Fearless Records, they are huge horror movie fans and are best known for their horror inspired lyrics, formed in early 2000 by high school friends Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Swartz. Charnas is the only remaining original member. I have to say that this time seeing Ice Nine Kills I thought they stole the show they absolutely rocked the stage in front of the fans that showed to see them, they always dress in some type of horror movie themed outfits this time was no different, Spencer would come out to start the show and the band would follow soon after they played hits that the fans love “Hip to Be Scared” which featured Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix which was derived from Huey Lewis “Hip to Be Square”. As well as some other fan favorites “The American Nightmare” and “Stabbing in the Dark”.

INK also brought with them great opening support, co-headlining the show was Bad Omens, an American metalcore band from Richmond, Virginia with Noah Sebastian as the front man, I had never heard this band before this show and I have to say they are different for sure but they seem to have a good following as well as fans who came to see Ice Nine Kills got a two for one and were able to take in the Bad Omens set.

Currents also on the bill came out kicking and screaming literally, with some energy to bring the crowd up and prep them for the headliners INK, the lead singer had some pipes able to belt out the screaming lyrics, but that’s what the fans want at a metal show and for sure is what they got. The first band that opened the show Fame on Fire yet another band that I had not heard of but when they started their set I was impressed they reminded me a little bit like Linkin Park mixed with some From Ashes to New two of my favorite bands so I was for sure intrigued and they had some good covers with a twist on them “Without Me” originally a Halsey track, Fame on fire put a good rock twist on it and I actually like both versions of this song. They closed the set with a cover of “Numb” from the great band named Linkin Park which really hit the fans as they felt the energy, and all knew that somewhere above Chester was looking down smiling.

Overall, it was a great night of some head banging, crowd participation metal music, started with Fame on Fire and capped off with Ice Nine Kills, if you have not had a chance to see INK live and in person you are missing out, check them out and I think you will become instant fans. Ice Nine Kills will be going on tour again with Motionless In White and Black Veil Brides on the Trinity of Terror Tour, check out any of those bands websites or social media sites for stops in a city near you. Islander and September Mourning invade Piere’s

0 0
Read Time:59 Second

Ever since Piere’s opened back up. they have not disappointed when it comes to booking talent from national acts to local and this time, they booked not one but two great bands in Islander and September Mourning, and added powerhouse local bands for opening support.

To kick off the show, local act Controller took the stage to start the show. Co-headliner September Mourning came out dressed in their reaper outfits and vocalist September Mourning got the crowd pumped; It was not a full crowd but that did not deter them to having the energy of a full house and the crowd that was there sang along and banged their heads with her.

Their set was short and did not have everything they usually have, including the story telling but the crowd still felt it for sure.

Closing the show was Islander and, those who had never seen these guys were surprised when they started. If you weren’t not expecting a hard metal performance from these guys, that is what they gave the crowd, and another high energy band on stage- the fans in attendance got their moneys worth for sure.

Shinedown Invades 4 Winds Field in Southbend

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 11 Second

Shinedown invaded Four Winds Field in South Bend recently, and they brought some friends with them in The Struts and Ayron Jones.

Jones would start the show off and if you haven’t seen or heard of this artist you are missing out and should check his music out; he not only sings but plays a killer guitar and is a very good entertainer. He performed his most recent hit, “Mercy” and several other songs as well.

The Struts came out firing on all cylinders all the way from the UK and they did not disappoint. This is another band a lot of fans are finally becoming familiar with and they put on a show.

They garner a lot of comparisons to a modern-day Queen as singer Luke Spiller is a great artist with a unique flare and stage presence; his high energy was a great way to set the stage for Shinedown to close out the night.

Regardless of how many times you see Shinedown live, you will never be disappointed and this time was no different. They came and pulled no punches opening with “Cut the Cord” and, in typical Shinedown fashion, the stage was loaded with pyrotechnics.

They brought it onstage and their energy flowed into the packed house of fans and they played for almost two hours, making sure fans wanted to come back for the next Shinedown show.

Read Time:37 Second

3 Doors Down is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of the “The Better Life” with special guest Seetherand recently made a stop at Indianapolis’ TCU Amphitheater

Seether started the show and, just like always, they belted out the crowd favorites one after another and rarely stop to chat with the crowd.

Playing for over 45 minutes, Seether made sure the crowd was hot and ready for 3 Doors Down to finish things off.

3 Doors Down took the stage and to the cheers of the crowd played their biggest song- “Kryptonite,” before ripping into “Loser” and “Duck and Run,” playing “The Better Life” in it’s entirety, which was exactly what the capacity crowd came to see.

Theory of a Deadman in Fort Wayne

0 0
Read Time:38 Second

Theory of a Deadman made a recent stop in Ft Wayne at the gorgeous Clyde Theatre, to a packed house and, by the time they made it to the stage with special guest Spirit Animal- who in their own right had a following, they were decent for the opener the crowd grew bigger when Theory came out to do their thing.

They opened with three of my favorite songs, the three that I wanted to hear the most so I got pretty lucky on that, “Drown,” “Blow” and of course “…The Bitch Came Back” to a happy crowd of rockers.

Theory of a Deadman has been around for a while now but still bring a good show to the stage and they are worthy of seeing live.
