Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

1. What’s the name of the band?

TGC: Tarah Who?

2. Where are you from?

TGC: Los Angeles,CA

3. What type of music do you play?

TGC: Rock, grunge, punk

4. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

TGC: I am Tarah, founder. I write all the songs. Live, I play the guitar and sing.

5. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical
influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

TGC: I grew up listening to Alanis Morissette. Then I discovered The Distillers, Motörhead, tool, RATM, Hole, Joan Jett, etc… Today, I don’t listen to much new music. When I write, I like to keep my focus on the new songs and try to not be influenced actually by what’s happening.

6. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you
naturally?

TGC: I am not sure how it started… When we were kids, my mom listened to a lot of Rock while cleaning the house. She would really BLAST The Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen etc.. Then I started listening to my own music, and we would spend evenings listening to what I had discovered or playing on my Walkman and Discman. We would just sit for hours playing music while we were lying down on the floor, feeling the vibrations of the bass and the drums etc.. I didn’t realize at the time the impact it has on me now. When I was 10 I remember getting the craving for the drums, I have always been drawn to the instrument, but that’s when my dad didn’t think it was an instrument for girls, even at school the music teacher would slightly smile when I said I actually would prefer to play the drums rather than the piccolo. When I turned 14, I started inquiring about drum lessons. The few teachers I spoke to didn’t take me seriously, so I started teaching myself. Same with the bass. I joined a couple of rock bands and that’s when it all started. At 15, I moved to the US and my English teacher wanted me to keep a journal to perfect my English. That is when I learned to express myself and write. It was very therapeutic. Some of those writings became songs, and I never stopped playing or writing…

I never really thought of music as a career. It just became that because I take it seriously, and It’s all I have, really. It was never a hobby. This I know. Music is an obsession that I take passionately,

7. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2022 and beyond into 2023?

TGC: Since we are in 2023… We started the year opening for Life of Agony, Prong and Madball. Now we are gearing up again to go back on this UK tour, opening for Wednesday 13, Sick’n Beautiful and South of Salem. April 28, is the release of a new album called “The collaboration project” which I am super excited about. Right before that, I am releasing “Freshmeat Rockstars” which is a new single.

8. For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at?
And were can they find your music?

TGC: Everywhere! I think you can just google Tarah Who? and pick your poison. I am mostly active on instagram @ tarahwho , and on Youtube but we are on Spotify and all of those digital platforms we need to be on in this day and age. 🙂

9. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

TGC: I don’t really have favorites anything… but let’s say… The Distillers.

10. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would
you choose?

TGC: I would love to set up a tour with the bands I collaborated with on the new album. So those bands are: Yur Mum, Faul, Bala, Laura Chevalier, October Rain, Carissa Johnson.

For this record we have channelled a lot more of our soulful influences such as Otis Redding, Mavis Staples (we watched her play at Primavera festival last year) and Bill Withers – but growing up in the noughties it was all about the rock and indie scene…. Anything from Radiohead to The Black Keys to Limp Bizkit

  • Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you naturally?

(Jonny) I’m from a family of classical musicians and music was always around the house in some form or other. So without realising I slipped into the same mould before rebelling to the world of pop music the second I reached secondary school

Worms of The Mind-Amnesiak debut single

0 0
Read Time:47 Second

‘Worms Of The Mind’ is the debut single from Amnesiak self named EP (2023). The music video was done by Award Winning Short Horror Filmmaker Matt Sears. The track has been mastered by a Platinum & Gold awarded Sound Engineer AKA Maor Appelbaum. The track features the stunning voice of Amnesiak’s singer and co-writer Grace Wilson and multi-instrumentalist, composer, Francesco Fonte. The Release of Amnesiak EP is to be announced soon.

At first hearing this track’s vocals made me think of an evanescence vibe, with bass notes and soft percussion, lead vocalist Grace Wilson brings her dark vocal talent to light with “Worms of The Mind” Grace takes you a journey of a women with Delusional Parasitosis Disorder, who loses touch with reality, and is trapped in horrible state. With every word you can almost see yourself as that woman and keeps you guessing on how it will end.

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

1. What’s the name of the band?

1- Our band is called Freedivers!

2. Where are you from?

2- We are from Barcelona.

3. What type of music do you play?

3- We play alternative rock music, with a lot of grunge influences.

4. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

4- Erik: I am Erik and I am the band’s frontman. I sing and play the bass.
Rafa: My name is Rafa! And I am the rhythm guitar.
Ferran: I am Ferran, I am the solo guitar.
Jordi: I am Jordi and I play the drums.

5. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical
influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

5-  When I was a kid I really enjoyed pop rock. I also listened to a lot of fantasy
movies’ BSOs growing up haha. Being a teenager I used to listen to bands like My
Chemical Romance and Paramore. I mainly listened to sad music, if I’m being honest! A
lot of catchy, great songs, as well. I soon discovered post-punk, grunge, alt-rock music…
Patti Smith, Jeff Buckley, Nirvana, The Doors are some of my references now.

6. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you
naturally?

6- I’ve always loved art, in some way. When I was a kid I started to draw and was very
drawn to fantasy and cartoons. The deep love for music came I think a little bit more
gradually and found out it was great to expel my demons and monsters and express the
beauty I found along the way. And I basically learnt to play the guitar and sang every
single day. (Well I love to sing and I sing 24/7)

7. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2022 and beyond into 2023?

7-  There are lots of things going on! We’ll be shooting new videos and releasing new
music that we are already working on. There’s a plan to make a little tour all around
Spain and a few other countries. Hope you watch our media so you stay tuned for fresh
information about concerts, songs and events!

8. For someone who wants to know more about the band, where can they find you?
And where can they find your music?

8- You can find us on Instagram! We regularly upload content and posts about our
events, concerts, rehearsals…
We are also in all major streaming services, like Spotify, Youtube, Pandora, Deezer,
Apple Music, Soundcloud…

9. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

9-  Only one band? Impossible! There are bands that have been there all along the way.
Bands like Joy Division or Nirvana. My favorite sound is alternative rock, especially with
acoustic or ambiental bits.

10. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would
you choose?

10- I love Mitski! She’s great and it would be awesome to open for her band. I found
out about her music a while ago and I resonate a lot with it.

Band of the Day Questions

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

These questions have been answered by Matti Siekkinen.

  1. What’s the name of the band?

Segmentia

  • Where are you from?

Seinäjoki, Finland

  • What type of music do you play?

We call our music Pop Metal from the North. We are mixing pop music song structures with electric and symphonic elements to metal music. Our music tends to be a bit melancholic, but also hopeful!

  • Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

Our current lineup is: Kansana – Vocals, Jere Luokkamäki – Drums, Arttu Vainiola – Guitar and Matti Siekkinen – Bass.

  • This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

I got into metal music through listening to bands like Stratovarius, HIM, Iron Maiden and Children of Bodom, but there’s a good part of my teenage years where I got heavily into bands like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, CCR and many other rock bands of that era. Until one day my friend introduced me to Opeth and Dream Theater so that sort of pulled me back to modern day music, haha. Talking about Opeth, lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Opeth again, but I’m not sure how they influence my writing. Not too directly at least, but the melodies and lyrics I come up with are influenced by just about every band/artist I like to listen to. I’m more interested and influenced by moods, themes and the overall feeling of the music that I listen to, so that kinda also shapes my criteria of what type of ideas I find “usable” when I write.

  • Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you naturally?

Pretty much yeah. The radio was always on at home playing music all day. I have some early memories of listening to Michael Jackson’s Thriller album on vinyl. It was my favorite record when I was around 5 or 6 years old, and I found it endlessly entertaining to switch the playback speed to make Michael sound like a cartoon character. There are no musicians in my family apart from my cousin, who plays guitar in a punk band, so I became sort of the black sheep of the family with my fascination to metal music and with passion to practice drumming hours up on end.

  • What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2022 and beyond into 2023?

We released our second EP called Alone just over a month ago, so we are currently playing some shows around Finland to promote that. Pretty soon though we’ll lock ourselves to our workspace and start finalizing writing our first full length album while doing some one off shows in between. We have some tour plans for the autumn, but we’ll let people know more about that a bit later. Beyond 2023 we hope to get to release some new music again as soon as we are able and then start touring outside of Finland as well!

  • For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at? And were can they find your music?

You can find us from all the major social media platforms, but we are probably the most active on Instagram. If you just want to learn more about the band in general, our website segmentia.net is the best place to start. As for the music, Spotify or Youtube are good places to check us out, though our music is available through all the major streaming platforms. And hey, perhaps we’ll find our way to your hometown one day to play a show!

  • Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

Ooohh this is a difficult question for sure! I have so many favorites and I’ve had so many of those “this is my favorite band now and forever” bands, until I come across another band that I like even more! Well, if I approach this from the angle of what are some of the bands that have stuck with me the longest and which I still often listen to these days too, it’s a close tie between Opeth and Dream Theater, but please don’t make me choose just one, haha!

  1. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would you choose?

I would love us to be able to open for Pain or Amorphis one day! I think we would fit the bill very well and we could learn a lot from either of the bands.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting again in the future.

Thank you for the interview! Stay (pop) metal!

From the Green Room Band of the Day-Darlin

Read Time:2 Minute, 26 Second

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

  1. What’s the name of the band?

We are called DARLIN

  1. Where are you from?

We’re an Essex based band, but a couple of the members are a bit spread out.

  1. What type of music do you play?

We describe our sound as Punchy, dual vocal pink powered pop rock.

  1. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

Collectively we are, Dan, Sarah, Simon, Rob, Joe and Dave. Dan and Sarah are husband and wife and both front the band. Si and Rob are guitars, Joe is Bass and Dave (me) on drums.

  1. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

The 6 of us have all brought in different influences, but the common ground that seems to prevail in the DARLIN sound is our mutual love for Fleetwood Mac and Paramore.

  1. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you naturally?

Personally, I’ve been exposed to music from as early back as I can remember. All different artists and genres. I used to pull pots, pans, biscuit tins out of the cupboard, set them up on the floor and hit them chopsticks. I think it’s safe to say I was always destined to be a drummer.

  1. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2022 and beyond into 2023?

For the rest of 2022 we’re ramping up to our 3rd single release, with a fourth on the way for early 2023. We’re getting ourselves ready for a busy summer of festivals and more studio time. We’re not slowing down anytime soon.

  1. For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at? And were can they find your music?

We’re on all the major socials, usually under thebanddarlin. The two singles we’ve released so far are on Spotify with videos on YouTube too. For a new band, there’s plenty of content to consume with plenty more on the way.

  1. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

For me it’s Queen. Every era is perfect, every member irreplaceable. They’re like a supergroup without being a supergroup. Too many bangers!!!

  1. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would you choose?

Right now I’d guess we’d all say Paramore. They’ve come back with a real retro Vibe/Sound and I think their fans would really be into us. Plus we all love them, so would be a joy to watch them every night.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting again in the future.

Thanks for having us, we can’t wait to catch up again. Dave

From the Green Room Band of the Day-Michael Webster

Read Time:2 Minute, 28 Second

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

  1. What’s the name of the band?

michael webster.

  1. Where are you from?

I’m based in Manchester, UK!

  1. What type of music do you play?

I usually describe my music as “folk-grunge”, a combination of old school songwriters and 90s alternative rock.

  1. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

I’m the main songwriter, guitarist and vocalist 🙂

  1. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

A lot of my influences growing up were 70’s rock, stuff like Bruce Springsteen and that – as well as modern emo music, but nowadays I listen to a huge range of music, from indie rock to pop to hip-hop to rnb, i’ll listen to whatever I enjoy really!

  1. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you naturally?

I’ve played guitar since a young age, but when I was 17 I properly started taking it more seriously, writing songs and performing at open mics and gigs. I think really I did it as more of an escape from reality!

  1. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2022 and beyond into 2023?

I’ve got an EP “a northern perspective” out on the Saturday 17th December, I’ve worked on it for the past 3 years and can’t wait for people to hear it. You can pre-save it at https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/michaelwebster/a-northern-perspective – can’t wait for it to be out. Got a lot of plans for next year too, not only my own music but even other projects I’m involved in too!

  1. For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at? And were can they find your music?

You can find me on most socials at @mchlwbstr or @michaaelwebstermusic – and I’m on all the streaming platforms under michael webster. You can find all my music and merch at www.michaelwebster.bandcamp.com too 🙂

  1. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

I think I’d have to say Neil Young & Crazy Horse – their chemistry between the band is incredible, every album is fantastic and a great expression of their sound. Plus, Neil Young’s songwriting ability is huge – what an artist.

  1. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would you choose?

I think I’d have to say Kurt Vile, he’s fantastic with some absolutely lovely albums under his belt. I’d definitely want to support him though, I can’t have him show me up opening hahaha.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting again in the future.

Review: Pannivagn-Evig kaos

Read Time:41 Second

While I don’t speak Scandanavian listing to this album I felt like I did, and after almost a decade-long hiatus Pannivagn ia back with thier third album Evil kaos, and this is a no-excuses larger than life rock n roll album from the middle of Norway.

Pannivagn shows influences not only from their evolved rock n roll style but hints of Nu-Metal roots with a little metal and pop music mixed in. If you like upbeat and energetic tracks that make you want to move this band brings it from the opening track to the last track on the album. Definitely worth a listen.

Review: Chaoseum-The Third Eye

Read Time:57 Second

Chaoseum is a Swiss Nu-metal/Metalcore band that formed in 2018 in Lausanne (Switzerland) and have played iconic venues like the legendary Whisky a Go Go, and have shared the stage with bands such to the likes of Eluvettie, Five Finger Death Punch and Metallica.

Chaoseum have released their fourth album since 2018, the follow up to their acoustic album Second Skin, and this is probably the best so far and it jumps out in your face from the first track I, Sexy Zombie as you go down the track list the songs punch you in the face harder each time, title track The Third Eye slows it down with an almost melodic chant to calm you down and sooth you for just a moment, all the way down to the last track What If, an album that makes you want to drive fast and punch people but still offers the slower tracks that are what I would consider Nu-metal ballads.

Track listing

  1. I,Sexy Zombie
