JOSIE LOCKHART ‘Every Kind of Light’ Release Date: October 18th

Ahead of the release of his sophomore album What Golden Hues, Josie Lockhart is set to unleash his first single ‘Every Kind of Light’ on October 18th, a foot stomping americana filled listen, that will grab your attention from the moment you hit play.

After Austin synth-pop group Sphynx went on hiatus in 2019, frontman Aaron Miller found himself adrift. “I had hundreds of songs on my hard drives in various stages of completion, all over the place,” Miller says. “So much of my identity was wrapped up in trying to be a successful musician that I started to wonder if it was healthy. I tried to put it down for a while.” Miller spent a few months working to remove the expectations he had set for himself and reconnect with the songwriting process. “I realised itʼs something I need for myself, I donʼt feel right unless Iʼm putting together an album in my head. Miller continued to tinker in his South Austin home studio and it wasnʼt long before he emerged with a sonic identity that blended his synth-pop background with the americana and twang he had grown up around.

Miller introduced his Josie Lockhart moniker with the 2021 release of Santa Rosa, mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Grizzly Bear, Future Islands), the album went on to be featured on the BBC, NPR, American Songwriter, Obscure Sound and Fresh On The Net, as well as picking up radio-play in the US, UK, Australia, Spain, and Brazil. “Making Santa Rosa was a cathartic experience,” says Miller, who performed and recorded the album entirely by himself. “That album broke some kind of seal, and I just kept putting songs together.” Two months after the release of Santa Rosa, Miller holed up at his familyʼs home in Durango, Colorado and assembled a collection of 11 tracks for Josie Lockhartʼs sophomore album, What Golden Hues.

uns with it. The album features steel guitar, wurlitzer, and saxophone on a bed of analog synth; heartland rock with a modern spin. Millerʼs lyrics are earnest, and the melodies and harmonies soar. The upcoming album signifies a return to his roots. I wanted to draw from the well of music I grew up listening to, Lucinda Williams, Bruce Springsteen, Townes Van Zandt, Miller says. The playing is masterful and the production shines. Where Santa Rosa introduced an artist, What Golden Hues reveals a songwriter in his prime, an artist fully formed.

Josie wrote ‘Every Kind of Light’ and recorded the demo in his South Austin home studio. After that, he took it to Carey McGraw at Club Sound Machine Studios in Lockhart, TX and brought in session players from Austin and Nashville to help produce a studio version of the track. The new single offers a tasteful glimpse of What Golden Hues, promising an incredible new era for the hard-working artist.

When it comes to the specific meaning behind his addictive new single, Josie has channelled into an honest theme of fulfilment that comes with growing up: “This is a song about a feeling of contentment and understanding that comes as you become an adult. After searching and feeling like you’re falling short of your goals in your 20s, I’ve found some peace with my station in life as a dad in my 30s, and a great deal of gratitude. I needed that wanderlust to get here though.”

Interview with Irian Darkwood

1. What’s the name of the band/artist?

A: My name is Irian Darkwood

2. Where are you from?

I am from Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada

3. What type of music do you play?

I sing rock/metal music.

4. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do?

My name is Irian Darkwood, I’m a Canadian metal/rock artist, I am a musician who
started out in karaoke, found my love for preforming there, and started making my own
music

5.This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical
influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

I actually had a lot of country influences growing up, but my biggest one was my father,
who loved music, had a huge collection of it, and we would always hear music in the house,
in the car, on road trips, he liked anything from Marty Robbins to Backstreet Boys

6.Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you
naturally?

I have been singing since I was quite small, I would always sing for people ( to their
annoyance lol), I remember my grandfather called me his ‘ little canary’, so the singing was
kind of a natural thing more or less, but I had to overcome serious shyness and anxiety (
still do), to be able to preform as I do today.

7.What can we expect from you in the rest of 2024 and beyond into 2025?

Lots of upcoming releases for music, hopefully we get some live gigs, keep an eye out on
Facebook, instagram and YouTube, you’ll see updates and things there!

8. For someone who wants to know more about you, were can they find you at? And
were can they find your music?

You can find new at : https://www.facebook.com/iriandarkwood

9.Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band and why?

Oh man, just one? Hmmm…. I gotta say Bon Jovi, I love the energy they bring to the
stage, and the type of music they play.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting again in
the future.

Thank you for having me, it was really awesome to chat with you!

Interview with Talk Radio

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

1. What’s the name of the band?
Talkradio.

2. Where are you from?

Melbourne, Australia.

3. What type of music do you play?

I’d say “alternative” or “indie” rock would be as close as you can get.

4. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

My name is Alex. I’m the only one in this project. I write all the music and lyrics,
perform all the vocals, play the drums, guitars, keys/piano and any other required
percussion, as well as create all the artwork for the CD releases.

5. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical
influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

It’s a bit of a mix. To begin with, I learnt drums in my teens. My uncle was a great
drummer (mum’s cousin really) and he was a huge fan of people like Billy Cobham and
Ginger Baker. Through my own musical explorations, I added people like Neil Peart,
Virgil Donati and Danny Carey to that list (unbelievably I ended up becoming friends
with a singer who worked with Virgil and took my uncle to a gig). Once I started singing,
I was being inspired by people like Bruce Dickinson, John Farnham and, my ultimate
hero, Chris Cornell. These days, my influences are purely from a song writing
perspective. For years, my number one song writing influence has been Foo Fighters. I’m
a huge admirer of Dave Grohl’s ability to churn out melodic hooks like he has a
bottomless pit of ideas. Other influences include Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Radiohead and
The Beatles.

6. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you
naturally?

I’ve been told I’ve always been musical. I used to drum in time to songs from the age of
3. Even so, music wasn’t my first artistic pursuit. I started as an actor at the age of 12. I
did quite a bit of theatre, TV and even a film over a period of 5 years. When I finished
high school and it was time to go to uni, my parents stopped supporting my acting
ambitions. They actively blocked my attempts, which was simple for them really. All
they had to do was stop driving me around to where I needed to go. By the time I got my
licence and was able to get around myself, my acting agency had been sold, I was no

longer on their books and my actors equity membership had expired. At this stage, I had
no drum kit at home either and was relegated to practicing on various pieces of furniture
in front of the stereo. At some point my cousin, who happened to be a great drummer,
invited me to watch his band at a rehearsal studio. It turned out they had no singer and
insisted I get on the microphone to give them a guide. It took a lot of convincing. They
kept asking me back every weekend. That’s how the singing began. Not long after that, I
joined a band and signed up for singing lessons.

7. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2023 and beyond into 2024?

I’m currently working on my next recording. It will be a 5 track EP. I won’t be waiting to
do entire albums anymore.

8. For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at?
And where can they find your music?

Everything I have can be found on www.talkradioaus.com.au, including where you can
find my music. You can also follow on www.facebook.com/talkradio.aus.

9. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

Soundgarden, with Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam close behind.

10. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would
you choose?
Opening for Foo Fighters would be the pinnacle of anything I’d ever achieved. I don’t
think I’d even care if I didn’t get paid. That sounds so ridiculous that even typing that
answer is making me giggle.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting
again in the future.
Thanks so much.

Interview with The Linder Ave Band

1 0
Read Time:2 Minute, 27 Second

Interview with The Linder Ave Band

1. What’s the name of the band?

I grew up in a musical home on Linder Avenue in Chicago. The sounds of my
family playing music nurtured my interest. The basement of my childhood
home on Linder Avenue is where I honed my skills as a musician, and it
inspired the name of my recording project.

2. Where are you from?

My roots as a musician go back to Chicago Illinois. However, I have lived in
Las Vegas for over 20 years.

3. What type of music do you play?

I would describe the music of the Linder Ave Band as Power Pop Melodic
Rock. Influenced by iconic bands of the 70s and 80s, my music is where the
heart of rock’s golden era beats with a modern rhythm. I hope to create
music that is both refreshingly new and nostalgically familiar.

4. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

I am a singer, songwriter who plays guitar and I have assembled local Las
Vegas musicians, as well as musicians from Chicago, to record with to bring
my writing alive. The musicians who played on my sessions are outstanding
players and singers and they have made their own creative contributions to
the tracks.

5. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical
influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

My list of musicians who have inspired me is long. To mention a few, the
legendary riffs of Jimmy Page and the melodic sensibilities of The Beatles
influenced me.

6. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you
naturally?

I was raised in a musical family where guitars and drums were household
staples. My mother and aunt were multi-instrumentalists and multilingual
singers, and my father was a jazz drummer. I started out, as many musicians
do, by playing in my neighbor bands.

7. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2023 and beyond into 2024?

My next release, “Midnight Mischief” coming out on June 7th, is a song
about the Las Vegas Strip. Although the song could be relatable to any
hotspot in any city. I think this song captures all the power pop melodic rock
elements that are associated with the Linder Ave Band.

8. For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at?
And were can they find your music?

My website is https://linderave.com/home My music is available on all the
usual streaming services and the iTunes Store.

9. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

The Beatles

10. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would
you choose?

The Linder Ave Band is a studio project. I do not have a touring band.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting
again in the future.

CARSEX Release New Track/Video “Crooked Canvas”

CARSEX Release New Track/Video "Crooked Canvas"

Long Beach, CA. underground Rock band Carsex have released their supercharged new single & video “Crooked Canvas”, which was produced by Steve Evetts (Sepultura, Alesana, Poison the Well, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Butcher Babies).  The track is a diatribe about their intense disdain for blind consumerism and uninformed fealty to political parties.  It starts out with a spoken word warning that is underlined by a fierce guitar riff that builds alongside a staccato drum beat and then explodes into a supersonic blast that never lets up.

Carsex Singer Nigel Burk says “Crooked Canvas’ is about the metaphorical wool being pulled over people’s eyes and the blind, general consumption of what’s being put forth.  Whether it’s politics, religion, what shoes to buy, which pill will make your dick bigger. It’s about consumerism at its finest and my distaste for it”.

Bassist Jeremy Schott adds “The music video was shot by our pals Brad Walther and Jason Lazo at Big Walrus Productions in Long Beach. We worked with them on our last video for “Your Generation”. We shot the video on a church set, keeping with the theme of the song being about the public being told how to think and what to consume – and blindly doing so. Steven Burhoe of Plague Productions edited the video.“

About CARSEX:

CARSEX amped-up sound is what the name implies: Sleazy, primitive, uncomfortable & just as good as your friends told you it’d be.

Forged by the survivors of Long Beach music scene bands Damned Age, Black Velvet Brigade, and Red River Massacre, the five music veterans in Carsex have slugged it out in the clubs of Orange County, California for more than 10 years.  While performing shows in these various groups on the circuit they became friends over time.  As the bands they were in either dissolved or changed direction – they decided to form under a new banner with shared musical tastes & goals, and Caresx formed in 2018. Their sound is a mix of Circle Jerks/Black Flag/The Germs, with Danzig, Fu Manchu & a bit Queens of the Stone Age blended into a potent combination. They play hard and loud with no hint of an apology.

Carsex has previously released 2 EPs: 2019’s CarSex and 2020’s 2020 EPwhich featured the singles “Your Generation” and “Lovesick”.   A new EP is being finalized and will be released later this summer.

Carsex is very much a live band, and shows are currently being booked to support the release of “Crooked Canvas” and the upcoming EP.  They’ve opened for Stillwell (Fieldy from Korn’s Band), The Obsessed, Mondo Generator, Suicide Silence, Unsane, Dead Poet’s Society, Narcoleptic Youth, and O’Zorn!, among others.

FROM ASHES TO NEW’s distinctive blend of hard rock, hip-hop, electronic, and alternative music saw BLACKOUT land the #1 spot on several iTunes and Spotify Rock and Metal charts across the globe. Acting as a prequel to their 2016 debut album DAY ONE it mirrors the angst and unrest the world felt during the 2020 pandemic at which time it was written while delivering a fresh spin on their distinctive blend of hard rock, hip-hop, electronic, and alternative music that broke FROM ASHES TO NEW onto the scene.

“‘Blackout’ is our prequel to ‘Day One,’” says Brandyberry. “‘Day One’ was a strong representation of the style that made FATN who we are today, and ‘Blackout’ is a step above. The world seems to be headed further and further towards chaos and destruction, so it only felt right to create a piece to paint the picture we are all becoming all too familiar with. Expect much more of this from us in the future. With these new tracks and collaborations, our biggest record yet just went to the next level. We’re thrilled to bring our fans, a couple new, exciting songs as well as some mind-blowing features from a handful of artists that we love.”

Smile Empty Soul Release New Single "SAVIOR" + Music Video via TLG|ZOID / Virgin Music Group

Alt-rock veterans Smile Empty Soul have unveiled their latest single, “Savior,” accompanied by an impactful music video. The track is a preview of their upcoming EP, Swan Song, which is scheduled for release at the end of the year through TLG|ZOID / Virgin Music Group.

“Savior” addresses the challenging state of contemporary society, as explained by the band’s frontman, Sean Danielsen. “I feel like people have grown cold to each other and selfishness has stepped up as the primary mentality,” Danielsen reflects. The song’s poignant lyrics and gripping melody are a testament to the band’s signature sound and their ability to tackle relevant themes through their music.

SMILE EMPTY SOUL is a hard rock band that originated in Los Angeles, CA in the late 1990’s and has stayed true to their brand of “no bullshit”, “real as it gets” hard rock to this day. The band signed a major label record deal in 2003 to release their self-titled debut album in May of that year. They realized huge success at alternative radio, rock radio, and the music video channels that have since fallen by the wayside or turned into reality show networks.

After 3 very successful singles/videos and a gold record from the debut release, the band ran into trouble with their record company (which was in the midst of turmoil at the top levels) and found themselves working extra hard in the trenches, and signed to indie labels or no label at all from then on.

This would become SMILE EMPTY SOUL’s destiny, as they have gone on to release many more albums and EP’s on various labels, as well as their own company “smile empty music inc”. The band released their 9th full length record Black Pilled on October 12th of 2021 completely on their own.

“Smile” has become known for its constant touring and never wavering honest sound/lyrics. They’ve never changed for anybody, and turned down many opportunities to “sell out” because it’s not who they are.

With a new album, and just as much drive as they had starting out 20 years ago, this band looks to continue to build on the legacy they’ve created as one of the hardest working, and most underrated bands in rock and roll.

The band has recently partnered with TLG|ZOID / Virgin Music Group to release new music. Denny Sanders (The Label Group) and Sean Danielsen previously partnered on the successful release of Consciousness. Released in 2009 the record has become second only to the band’s debut release in popularity.

Interview with A Permanent Shadow

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room.

It’s a pleasure, thanks for inviting us!

2. Where are you from?

I’m of Austrian origin but have lived in Barcelona for many years. My co-writers are
Catalan and Argentinian, respectively.

3. What type of music do you play?

We play Electronic Rock.

4. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

My name is CP Fletcher and I am the singer, Valentí Nieto is on bass, guitar and
production and Albert Català is the keyboarder and arranger.

5. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical
influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

I was heavily into David Bowie as a teenager, and still am. These days I would say that
other major influences are Nine Inch Nails and LCD Soundsystem.

6. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you
naturally?

I started out quite late, as a drummer first and then as a singer when I was in my thirties.
It pains me to say that I’m not a natural talent, neither singing nor drumming came
naturally to me. It was a lot of hard work and I still feel that I have a lot to learn.

7. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2024?

We’ve just released a new album, “No Leaf Clover”, which we will be promoting over
the next few months. Towards the end of the year, we’d like to release a covers EP as well.

We are on all digital platforms and social media outlets, but a good starting point is our
own website, www.apermanentshadow.com

9. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all-time favorite band?

That’s a tough question, but I’ll go with Simple Minds!

10. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would you choose?

I think we would make a good match with Simple Minds, Future Islands, John Grant or
Garbage, among many others.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting
again, in the future.

Thank you for having us! Till the next time!
