The Veer Union Launch Into 2025 With

“Welcome To Dystopia” Album

The Veer Union have launched into 2025 with the release of the their new album, “Welcome To Dystopia”.  The 8 song, apocalyptic themed album by the Vancouver BC, Canada based group includes previously released hit singles “Empirical”; “Is This How It Ends”, and the title track, which included a guest appearance by rising rockers Silent Theory.

The focus track for the LP is “No Excuse” which excoriates leaders around the world for leaving the poor, middle class and working class behind in an evolving world – in order to help the wealthy grow their net worth to obscene levels.  An ominous spoken word intro explodes into driving guitars, buoyed by a hypnotic piano and synth melody line that are propelled forward by thunderous drums with a chugging, relentless rhythm.

The Veer Union says No Excuse’ is a powerful rallying cry that exposes the deep-rooted betrayal of the working class by those in power. For decades, our leaders have decimated the middle class by outsourcing our manufacturing base, leaving communities to struggle while the wealthy elite thrive. At the same time, governments have colluded with big tech to suppress dissent, using cancel culture and censorship as tools to control the narrative.

They continue “Endless wars have claimed countless innocent lives, torn nations apart, and yet, the only ones to benefit are those at the top. We’ve endured lockdowns, had our freedoms stripped away, and watched our futures grow uncertain. The dream of prosperity has been ripped from us, leaving today’s youth with little more than a dim outlook for a better tomorrow.  The rise of AI and robotics threatens to further control, weaponizing technology to erode autonomy.  But in this age of information, people are waking up exponentially to the reality of our situation—and they’re demanding accountability from those who’ve betrayed us. All hope is not lost… Yet.”

OSC Fan Newsletter Jan 2025

Welcome to the new year and hope you are all doing well in the world of insanity. While we try to all disappear into the world of music, where we are safe, the weather, the rulers of the world, are going mad and trying to take us all down with them… We will not put up with it so what can you expect from us in 2025???

The Collective met in Stockholm for a studio session that was pretty fun despite the cold, grim, dark weather. I flew in from Portugal, Jiri and Mogens came from Denmark, Christian (Yur Gagarin) came from Goteborg, and we met with Jonathan and Mattias at Roth Handle studios. Wespent the first two days making the soundtrack for a short, animated film. That was fun and co Then we started to jam. About 6hrs of material was recorded over the next two days. Some great
stuff as always and some new areas explored Sadly, the Relaxing in the Himalayas LPs were warped and had to be repressed, so they will not
come until the end of January.

The West Space and Love III LPs also had problems and had to be repressed. Links are below… Both are released on Space Rock Productions.

https://oresundspacecollective.bandcamp.com/album/relaxing-in-the-himalayashttps://drspace1.bandcamp.com/album/west-space-and-love-iii

In April, we hope to have the new double LP/2CD, Alotta Hella down in Estrela released on Space Rock Productions. The LP features 4 tracks (one is 50mins) and the CD contains 2 bonus tracks (38 mins) not on the LP. It was recorded in the 2022 session in Portugal and features Dr Martin Weaver (Wicked Lady), Luis Simoes (Saturnia), Tim Wallander (Ex-agusa, Ozric Tentacles), Hasse Horrigmoe (Tangle Edge), Jonathan Segel (Camper van Beethoven), Dr Space, Jiri, Mogens and Pär….

We will also release a film of us live in the studio recording Od
to a Black Hole on DVD with a new 5.1 surround sound mix by
Dr Space.. When I find time, I hope to mix some of our olde
records in 5.1 like The Black Tomato and Sleeping with the
Sunworm. April 11-12th, will be our 20th Anniversary shows and like our 10th anniversary show, we plan to have many different people playing the 4 different set that will be played, and we will have amazing light show of P&P from Germany (they do the lights at Fuzz Fest and other festivals). there will be an afterparty each night with the band til 2 and special merch, poster gallery, etc..
Please buy an advanced ticket…

In May we will play the Spaceboat in Hamburg for the 10th time. Wow. Amazing. Thanks to Sabine from Sapphire and Space Rock Productions for putting
in all the work that is required to make this happen. There are
still tickets available. The shows are May 23-24th-..

Also coming in 2025 is the Kozfest 2023 DVD. I have to
apologise up front though as I fucked this one up and send
Ruben, who did the amazing video editing job of the show, the wrong mix of the audio so the audio is decent but our amazing drummer Tim is really buried in the mix. The upside is if you are bandcamp subscriber or buy the DVD, you will get the proper audio mix which sounds great.. Sorry, I fucked it up….

If you liked the more laid-back CD from last year, Espaço,  you would also dig, Espaço 2!!! This will be a band camp   subscriber CD and limited numbers will be available for the fans… I also expect the fans will get the multitrack recording of the Lygtens Kro gig as well (this was also   filmed) It is also possible; I get finished the DVD from Winter Jazz festival 2022 in Copenhagen.

https://oresundspacecollective.bandcamp.com/subscribe

We will likely also have another studio album out later in the year, either from the new session or one called  Probably you´re Wrong, from the 2022-23 sessions. We   will see..

We were trying to set up a tour in Sept down to Italy and back, but this has failed. IT is still possible we will do a weekend of gigs Sept 4-6th. We will see.  It is nearly impossible to set up a tour anymore. Sadly…

Who knows what else might pop up. Jonathan will have gigs with Camper van Beethoven in the USA this year, probably 10 more albums with Astral Magic and other cool collaborations. Dr Space, will have another Alien Planet Trip volume, perhaps another solo CD, Doctors of Space will have two CDs……

Thanks for all the support, you folks are what keeps me alive….. getting the guys together and making music for us and the fans..   peace, love and space rock.. scott and the ØSC…

ABBEY PIERCE‘Down to Earth’Release Date: January 31st

ABBEY PIERCE ‘Down to Earth’ Release Date: January 31st

With a stack of foot tapping country driven songs already unleashed, country music newcomer Abbey Pierce returns in 2025 with a brand-new single called ‘Down to Earth’ to complete her debut EP, ‘Soul Searchin’’! Elaborating on the meaning behind the track, Abbey explains how “Anxiety can
sometimes manifest in a feeling that you’re floating in a space all on your own. But a solid partner can keep you grounded in reality when their love is a force of gravity. This love song is an ode to those people whose love penetrates the scariest of emotions.”

With extremely personal lyrics, backed by an evocative melody, Abbey describes how she “Wrote this song with just me and my guitar. Our band started playing it out at shows and it really took the shape of a 90s love song. I recorded it in the studio with my bandmates and I think we really captured the raw emotion behind the lyrics.” Ultimately, ‘Down to Earth’ is set to make waves for this up-and-coming country singer.

Abbey Pierce is native to “the Natural State” also known as Arkansas, USA. She discovered a love for performing at a very young age and spent her youth on stage in every pageant and talent show she was eligible to enter. She only began gigging as a singer-songwriter in 2018 after moving to a new region to discover a rich music scene that inspired her to chase her dreams of becoming a professional musician.

She bought a guitar, dusted off the years between her last performances, and taught herself to play enough cover songs to book shows. It was when the worldwide pandemic hit that she started exploring the craft of songwriting. She’s been working on leaning into her inspirations and finding
her sound, which takes the shape of a unique, soulful blend of country and folk-rock with a hint of the blues. She performs regularly as an acoustic act as well as the lead vocalist in a five-piece outfit, the “Abbey Pierce Band.”

She balances a 9 to 5 gig as a project manager while burning the midnight oil to pursue her passion for music. Abbey is working to make the 5 to 9 become the 9 to 5, and she’s living by the words she wrote in one of her original tunes, “Don’t Quit Your Daydream.”

Flush-Releases ‘Noises’

Read Time:2 Minute, 52 Second

Flush-Community rockers Flush release their sophomore album ‘Noises’, a musical sanctuary for misfits across the world

Finnish rockers Flush are releasing their second full length album, Noises, on 29th November 2024. The band continues its journey to create a safe space and vibrant community to those for whom the world today sometimes feels a bit too much. Taking inspiration from legendary punk acts and critical thinkers
like Charles Bukowski, the band delivers its unique blend of punk, grunge, alternative rock, and metal. With their sincere and thought-provoking lyrics, the band provides a musical sanctuary for misfits all over the world. Flush calls their style of music community rock, best summarized in the last lines of their upcoming song We’re Not Yet Alright: “We’re all fucked so let’s be fucked together”.

Over the last few years, Flush has delivered its community-building message to the world with their two earlier releases, receiving positive reviews from rock magazines and gathering hundreds of thousands of streams from all over the world on Spotify. Now, Flush’s second album Noises will be released through Wormholedeath Records. Two singles will be released prior to the album, both with accompanying music videos:

1. Headspinner – 25th October 2024
2. Dive – 8th November 2024

The main theme of the album is anxiety, and the songs include stories about personal experiences as well as reflections on society. Flush does not shy away from topics like domestic violence, the death of family members, alcoholism, break-ups or the end of the world, but to balance things out, the band also
writes about space satellites, owls, multi-universe taxis and days on the beach. Hence, it’s not all doom and gloom, and lyrically this is also the sexiest Flush has ever been. Musically, the band has focused on creating songs that work well on live stages, leading to plenty of dynamic elements, catchy riffs and the occasional big choruses.

References: Bad Religion, Deftones, 90s alternative rock and grunge, Biffy Clyro, Charles Bukowski.

The album was recorded in June 2024 with sound engineer Owe Inborr at Wolfthrone Studios. Flush has
also collaborated closely with visual designer Pedro Bergamo for the band’s new visual appearance, music videos, and promotional photographs. The album cover art is made by AD Tuomo Heiti. Wormholedeath Records (Italy) distributes the album globally, and Flush also works with PR agencies Ginger Vine Management & PR (Finland) and Rogue PR (UK).

Flush is
Lasse Girs: vocals, guitars
Janne Kontiokorpi: guitars, backing vocals
Eero Luukkonen: bass
Börje Stén: drums

Review snippets from the ‘Conspiracies, Threats and Chaos’ EP:

“Worth twelve minutes of everyone’s time” (PowerPlay Magazine, UK)

“From grit to tender and from power to anthemic – Flush does it all and they do it all so
perfectly. This EP is under twelve minutes long so you really have no excuse to not check it out.

Seriously.” (Girl at the Rock Shows, US)

“This is a very impressive EP that really has me looking forward to hearing what they have up their sleeves next.” (The Music Korner)

ACM Artist of the Decade and 3X ACM Entertainer of the Year Jason Aldean has garnered nearly 30 No. 1 career hits, over 18 billion streams, and more than 20 million albums sold with “his own recipe…one that has vaulted him to the pinnacle of Country music success” (Atlanta Journal Constitution).  His history-making and prolific career has included nearly two decades of chart-topping hits, including “Dirt Road Anthem,” “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” “Fly Over States,” “She’s Country,” “Big Green Tractor,” “Amarillo Sky” and more. The Grammy-nominated hit-maker earned the most Top 10 songs on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart-more than any other artist- since his debut in 2005, with “songs of small-town living, love and loss that have resonated with a loyal fanbase” (Billboard). With the 2023 release of his 11th studio album, HIGHWAY DESPERADO, and his sold-out nationwide Highway Desperado Arena Tour, Aldean continued his “country superstar status” (Variety). The album earned the Georgia native his first career Hot 100 chart-topping hit with “Try That In A Small Town”- which earned Billboard Award nominations (2023) for “Top Song Sales Artist” and “Top Selling Song”- as well as the fan-favorite track “Let Your Boys Be Country” and current single, “Whiskey Drink.” Produced by longtime producer Michael Knox, Highway Desperado followed Aldean’s double album, MACON, GEORGIA, which earned the singer/songwriter praise for honing “in on his vision for this era of his career” and kicking off “his career’s next era” (The Tennessean). The project’s featured the history-making, multi-week No. 1 Grammy-nominated “powerful duet” (Rolling Stone) “If I Didn’t Love You” with Carrie Underwood, which won ACM Single of the Year, iHeartRadio Country Song of the Year, and CMT Collaborative Video of the Year as well as Billboard and GRAMMY nominations. Currently in the studio working on new music, Aldean most recently graced the cover of Hook & Barrel Magazine’s January 2025 Cover, where he spoke about his career to date and new music and what is on the horizon in 2025. Smile Empty Soul Release New Single “Violence” via

Alt-rock veterans Smile Empty Soul have unveiled the fifth single, “Violence” from their upcoming EP, Swan Song, which is scheduled for release digitally on  2/28/25 and on vinyl/CD 4/11/25 through TLG|ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group. The band’s previous four singles have been met with an overwhelmingly positive response, building excitement for the upcoming release.

“‘Violence’ is a song about the many toxic relationships that occur in our society. They seem to be everywhere, be it in the home, the streets, or even the relationship between the people and the government. It’s inescapable,” says Sean Danielsen.

The song was written and produced by Sean Danielsen, engineered by Brian Scheffer, mixed and mastered by Eddie Wohl.

SMILE EMPTY SOUL is a hard rock band that originated in Los Angeles, CA in the late 1990’s and has stayed true to their brand of “no bullshit”, “real as it gets” hard rock to this day. The band signed a major label record deal in 2003 to release their self-titled debut album in May of that year. They realized huge success at alternative radio, rock radio, and the music video channels that have since fallen by the wayside or turned into reality show networks.

After 3 very successful singles/videos and a gold record from the debut release, the band ran into trouble with their record company (which was in the midst of turmoil at the top levels) and found themselves working extra hard in the trenches, and signed to indie labels or no label at all from then on.

This would become SMILE EMPTY SOUL’s destiny, as they have gone on to release many more albums and EP’s on various labels, as well as their own company “smile empty music inc”. The band released their 9th full length record Black Pilled on October 12th of 2021 completely on their own.

“Smile” has become known for its constant touring and never wavering honest sound/lyrics. They’ve never changed for anybody, and turned down many opportunities to “sell out” because it’s not who they are.

With a new album, and just as much drive as they had starting out 20 years ago, this band looks to continue to build on the legacy they’ve created as one of the hardest working, and most underrated bands in rock and roll.

The band has recently partnered with TLG|ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group to release new music. Denny Sanders (The Label Group) and Sean Danielsen previously partnered on the successful release of Consciousness. Released in 2009 the record has become second only to the band’s debut release in popularity.

Interview with The Kyle Jordan Project

Interview With the Kyle Jordan Project

1. What’s the name of the band?

We’re called The Kyle Jordan Project. Pretty straightforward—it started with me, Kyle, and then
grew into this collaborative beast of a band. I still take on the role as the executive producer –
similar to Mark Ronson, DJ Kahled, or Alan Parsons.

2. Where are you from?

I’m from Victoria, B.C., but the band is spread out a bit. This makes the recording process a bit
more remote, but it works for us. Playing live and touring just means a bit of extra planning.

3. What type of music do you play?

We’re modern rock with a twist. Think heavy guitar-driven sound, but we mix in elements of folk,
blues, and Americana. It's like if Imagine Dragons, The Glorious Sons, and 21 Pilots had a jam
session and invited some old-school roots vibes to the party.

4. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band.

I’m Kyle Jordan May—I handle songwriting, producing, drums, some of the guitars, and
occasional vocals. Greg Van Kerkhof is my right-hand guy, working on songwriting and bass.
Then there’s Erick Gerber, my other right-hand guy, he’s a creative powerhouse in the writing
and producing department. He’s also the best guitar player I have ever met.

5. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical
influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

Growing up, it was my Dad’s music like: Janis Joplin, Zeppelin, The Stones, Nickelback, April
Wine, Green Day (Amazing that my Dad was a Green Day fan before me) and of course Three
Dog Night. My mom was a Christian recording artist, so I had that gospel and worship influence
too: Ken Holloway, Chris Tomlin, etc. Nowadays, I’m digging artists like Noah Kahan, Greta Van
Fleet, The Pretty Reckless, Maneskin and even some blues-inspired stuff. It’s all over the
place—good music is good music.

6. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you naturally?

Music’s always been part of my life. I was playing drums in church as a kid, then transitioned
into bars when I got older. It felt natural, but it’s also something I worked hard at. Music was my
outlet, especially when life got heavy—like dealing with a brain tumor. It became a way to process everything.

7. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2024 and beyond into 2025?

We’re building momentum! Our latest single, Demons, just dropped, and it’s all about
struggles—whether they’re inner or external. After that, we’ve got more singles lined up: Like “Tall Blonde Honey” slated for release on January 21 st , 2025. A tour in 2026 is also in the works. We’re all about connecting with people, whether it’s through a song, a live show, or both.

8. For someone who wants to know more about the band, where can they find you at? And where can they find your music?

We’re on all the usual spots—Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazing Radio, you name it. Just search The Kyle Jordan Project. Follow us on socials too; we’re always posting updates, behind-the-scenes stuff, and whatever random thing pops into our heads.

9. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all-time favorite band?

Man, that’s tough. If I had to pick one, probably Zeppelin. They’re untouchable. I’m also a big fan or The Pretty Restless, 21 Pilots, The Glorious Sons and Maneskin. If we ever had the chance to collaborate with Jessie Murph, Courtney Hadwin, or Jelly Roll I’d jump at it!

10. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would you choose?

Imagine opening for The Glorious Sons—that would be insane. Or maybe doing a co-headliner with someone like Imagine Dragons. Either way, it’d be epic.

Thanks for chatting with me, From the Green Room. Looking forward to doing this again
sometime soon!

SoftWave Releases “Will it ever be Christmas”

SoftWave Releases “Will it ever be Christmas”

About the Xmas single…
2 years ago, SoftWave released their first ever Christmas song, ‘Will It Ever Be Christmas Again?’. It is probably the first time in Danish music history that a Danish Christmas synth-pop song has been released.

Leading up to the completion of their 2nd album “things we’ve done” which won silver at ISSA AWARDS 2024 in Atlanta, Jerry Olsen (SoftWave’s producer) sat in the studio and played with a bell sound, which captured him so much that it unintentionally ended up with the creation of SoftWave’s first Christmas song! With less than 2 months until December 1st, they chose to co-write with a former collaboration partner from Great Britain, Barney Ashton-Bullock.

He is a playwright, poet and
librettist in the project ‘Andy Bell is Torsten’ alongside Erasure’s Andy Bell (see p.3). Barney has previously invited SoftWave to produce 2 remixes for Andy Bell’s sold-out LP (‘Club Torsten’) which ended up on the UK OFFICIAL ALBUM CHARTS in the good company of Vince Clarke (founder of Erasure, Yazoo, Depeche Mode).

SoftWave are known for their uplifting electronic pop music that is inspired by classic English synth- pop with its prominent synthesiser sounds. In this Christmas song, SoftWave’s singer (Catrine Christensen) chose to duet with Barney, who also wrote the lyrics. Together they created the ultimate and most beautiful Christmas atmosphere, seasoned with Jerry’s delicious production and jingle bell sounds.

Jerry & Catrine deliver a sparkling glitter wrapped present for our delight, Catrine’s beautiful vocal overlays Jerry’s sublime backing, it’s a brand new song yet the feel of it seems to make you believe it’s a Christmas staple, welcoming & familiar, as if it’s been around forever. And then Barney’s vocal kicks in, bringing a whole new dimension.

SoftWave (bio)

SoftWave is a Danish synth-pop duo, established in 2014 by singer Catrine Christensen and producer
Jerry Olsen without any musical background. Their big visions, uplifting sound and catchy chorus
have taken them far. They have been recognised by great synth pioneers such as OMD, Andy Bell
(Erasure), Chris Payne (ex Visage), Ian Burden (ex Human League) and others.

SoftWave made two all new ‘Electro-Noir’ style remixes for my ‘Club Torsten!’ album and I loved
their strong retro inspired synth melodies the first time I heard them and the way Catrine’s vocals

weave in and out so deftly is just gorgeous!.

Andy Bell, Erasure

SoftWave’s career started with the review of one of their demos in the Danish music magazine
GAFFA. After the release of the debut album ‘Game On’ (2019), it really took off with chart
positions, concerts and radio airplay both at home and abroad (DR P4 etc.).

There’s a bit of Erasure about this SoftWave song, Something Is Missing.”

P4 AFTEN, Danmarks Radio

SoftWave are kicking off 2025 by visiting the UK again! They’ve been nominated as BEST ELECTRO ACT at the Radio Wigwam Awards 2025! You can vote for the band, once a day right here: https://radiowigwam.co.uk/awards_voting/ and tickets can be found here: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/71844
