DEVORA Shares New Video for ‘Pornstar’, Announces Tour Dates With Bush

Read Time:2 Minute, 53 Second

DEVORA has released a video for ‘Pornstar’ ahead of a new slate of tour dates with Bush in April. The genre-bending artist melds Goth Pop sensibilities with a Modern Country ethos into a sound that is compelling.

‘Pornstar’ is a new track from her recently released “God Is Dead’ EP. In speaking about the song, DEVORA says “Pornstar’ is about culturally embracing darkness in all forms, pridefully. When I’m writing songs I love towing the lines between, “Is this a dream, or is it a nightmare? Maybe it’s a bit of both. I love painting a picture of heaven and hell intertwined to the point where you can’t tell the difference. I have an obsession for horror movies, Tarantino classics and western cinema. I paint an explicitly clear visual picture in my songs using all five of the senses to the point where you can literally feel, see, and taste the environment around you. You feel like you’re right in it”.

She continues “Another facet that I wanted to explore was how there is such a dark side to the porn industry, and I wanted to poke some holes through this. I think the American porn star is a modern-day pageant queen, and there are so many dynamics and complexities surrounding this topic. There’s been a lot of backlash historically with celebrity figures in this industry – so I’m sort of flipping that on its head for this song with lyrics like ‘I Love that you hate me’. It’s definitely an empowering “F-You” to any haters, as well as a prideful boast of identity and origins alike. I particularly love the 90’s porn aesthetic and the visuals surrounding it (think Pamela Anderson Lee, Jenna Jameson, etc.) so that’s also where the idea for this song popped off from”.

The video was filmed in a trailer park in the Salton Sea area of Southern California by Felicity Jayn Heath. DEVORA says “Felicity is great to collaborate with, and she really nailed the location and setting for the ‘Pornstar’ video. That area is becoming desolate and abandoned, and I think visually it really helps drive home the theme of the song”.

2023 has been a very busy year thus far for the rising Y’Alternative artist, who will be embarking on a 2nd round of tour dates as direct support for Bush (see below). She previously released “Bonesaw” (also directed by Heath) as the 1st focus track for the ‘God Is Dead” EP, which was produced by Alex Aldi (Passion Pit, Holy Ghost!) and Cass Dillon (Goo Goo Dolls, Grey Daze). The EP was mixed by Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck) and released on his Tiger Tones Record label.

DEVORA has previously released 6 singles and her debut EP Outlaw. She has received positive press at American Songwriter, Alternative Press, Revolver Magazine, INKED, Atwood Magazine, Substream Magazine, Tinnitist, and Earmilk, among others. DEVORA has amassed more than 3.2 million cumulative audio streams of her music to date. She recently toured nationally with Bush (Additional dates below), while also honing her live show with solo dates in Southern California.

DEVORA – Upcoming Tour Dates with Bush:
Wednesday, April 26th – Hampton Beach Ballroom – Hampton Beach, NH
Thursday, April 27th – Premiere Theater @ Foxwoods – Mashantucket, CT
Saturday, April 29th – The Meadows Racetrack and Casino – Washington, PA

Band of the Day Questions

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

  1. What’s the name of the band?

The band is called ELOAĦ.

  • Where are you from?

The band started out in Graz, Austria, 1993, but is now established in the Netherlands with both Austrian and Dutch members.

  • What type of music do you play?

ELOAĦ plays mostly singer/songwriter based chansons and ballades with new age, rock, pop and jazz influences. The series “The Mondstein Chronicles” is an exception, here the music is based on jazz and classical improvisations.

  • Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

ELOAĦ usually involves a lot of different (guest) musicians and explores new directions and styles on every album. Over the past couple of years, however, a stable line-up crystalized: Orion Roos plays electric guitars, Peter Douwenga bass guitars, Johan van der Meer drums and percussion, Dominik Mittergradnegger saxophone, Lila Herderberg sings, and I (Elmar C. Fuchs) sing as well, play acoustic guitars, flutes and keyboards.

  • This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

I grew up learning classical piano and taking classical singing lessons, so classical music is certainly an influence. As a teenager I started teaching myself guitar and tin whistle, and I discovered my love for a variety of styles, for example melodic rock&metal (e.g. Savatage), Celtic/new age music (e.g. Loreena McKennitt), singer/songwriter music and chansons (e.g. Herman van Veen). Later on I discovered my love for jazz (e.g. Keith Jarrett). But that is just me. Every other musician of ELOAĦ has a different story, different tastes – parts of all that go into our music.

  • Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you naturally?

Absolutely. I remember that I already loved singing in kindergarten, and because of my love for music I started with piano lessons when I was 7 or 8 years old. Music has always been an important part of my life, and it always will be.

  • What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2022 and beyond into 2023?

We just released the ballade / soft rock album “Proud to Love You.”, and we are all very happy with it. At the same time we have already been busy with our next project, a heavy rock / metal album for which the drum recording sessions are in progress at the moment. We are planning to finish recording and mixing this album in in 2023, it is scheduled to be released in 2024. We are also thinking about performing some tracks of this new album afterwards.

  • For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at? And where can they find your music?

You can find us on the internet at eloah.at. There you will also find links to our music at the major online providers (iTunes, Spotify, etc.). On social media you can follow us on Facebook (eloahmusicsite).

  • Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

There are many, it is hard to choose. Perhaps MAESTRO – or Savatage – or Jon Oliva’s Pain. However, I also like power metal like Manowar and Virgin Steele. And of course there’s always Iron Maiden. And I have seen Herman van Veen many times live with his band, he is just fantastic. So… honestly, I don’t know. ?

  1. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would you choose?

I would really like to tour with MAESTRO and open for them, that would be fantastic – especially since both our e-guitar and bass guitar player play in both bands, so it would be a double feature for them.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting again in the future.

From the Green Room Feature Band: Minneriket

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 11 Second

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

  1. What’s the name of the band?

The band is called Minneriket. The name roughly translates into “The realm of memories”. As a concept, Minneriket is this unique realm, transcending the worldly and the profane. The name is nostalgic by nature: not necessarily looking back but mirroring a cyclical weltanschauung reflecting memories as both experiences, hopes, dreams and wishes.

  • Where are you from?

Norway, born and raised.

  • What type of music do you play?

When I launched Minneriket I labeled the music as “Romantic black metal”, challenging the orthodox understanding of what constitutes black metal as a genre, and removing the shackles of genre limitations and audience expectations. I define Romantic black metal as a musical artform that combines and incorporates themes and aesthetics associated with romanticism with the unique atmosphere of Norwegian black metal.

  • Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

My name is Stein Akslen and I am the sole and founding member of Minneriket. I compose, record, write and produce everything. Lately I have been collaborating with several session musicians on the previous and upcoming album, but in general I do everything myself and Minneriket is a one-man band.

  • This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

Growing up it was a lot of Iron Maiden, Offspring, Bad Religion, Burzum, Mayhem and Gorgoroth. I guess you can still hear the punk-inspiration in my black metal, but I think Minneriket has forged a very unique sound. I like to be influenced by different genres and not limit myself, so I listen to a lot of ambient, classical, hiphop and singer-songwriter music.

  • Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you naturally?

For as long as I can remember I have both been listening to and wanting to create music. There really was no other choice. Life is very poor without the gift of music.

  • What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2022 and beyond into 2023?

I’m about to complete the demo recording of the new Minneriket album as we speak. The writing was completed last autumn, and I’ve been mapping up the ideas in the studio since then. I doubt the album will be completed this year, but hopefully I’ll be able to share a single either late this year or early next year. I focus 100% on completing it first. Most of the guitars are done, and drum recording should start soon.

  • For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at? And were can they find your music?

The best source of information is of course the official Minneriket website at www.minneriket.com. Also be sure to follow on social medias for the latest updates and sneak peaks into new music and general banter. The music is available on all large streaming services, and there are links to both merchandise and music on my website.

  • Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

Hard to choose, I enjoy a lot of different music. But I always come back to Burzum, Nick Cave, Bruce Dickinson and The Offspring.

  1. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would you choose?

Minneriket is a one-man band and a studio project, touring does not interest me. Let’s say Minneriket could go live if I got Darkthrone as an opening act.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting again in the future.

From the Green Room Feature Band: Lee O’ Nell Blues Gang

Read Time:4 Minute, 33 Second

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

  1. What’s the name of the band?

Lionel WERNERT: Well, let me introduce you Lee O’Nell Blues Gang

  • Where are you from?

Gipsy BACUET: We came from France, and are living in Reims: the city of Champagne and where all the kings where crowned in the Middle Ages.

  • What type of music do you play?

Lionel: We play a contemporary Blues Rock music. A mix of vintage and modernity.

Gipsy: Some say here « The french band that has it all figured when it comes to putting some Blues into the Rock and vice-versa » which is a pretty good definition of Lionel’s music.

  • Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

Lionel: I’m the leader and the only composer of the band and decided to form my own group in 2019 with Gipsy as the fabulous female voice and lyrics writer.

Gipsy: And we are also manager, booking agents, driver of the van on tour… haha ! we have to put all the caps in the same time as we are an emerging band , even if we have 2 albums self-produced since 2020. « Different Shades Of Love » released in 2020 and « This is us » released in 2022.

  • This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

Lionel: Yes that is a common question, but I think it’s the normal way to discover a band without listening to it before ! Anyway , I’m a self taught child of rock who grew with all the iconic 70’s rock bands such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Rainbow among others… Then I went to the roots and listened and studied Albert King, Eric Clapton, Peter Green… among others, and most recently Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gales or Christone Kingfish Ingram…

Gipsy: I love all those Rock and Blues legends, but mostly came from Jazz: Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald… and country with Bonnie Raitt for example.

Lionel: These different universes from which we come,  allow me to compose and build songs with a multitude of shades. That is exactly what I was looking for. Gipsy also has an extra large vocal range and can play with her voice; she can be sassy, feline smooth and jazz till rock , rough and powerful when I need her to be.

  • Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you naturally?

Lionel: Yes, I’ve always been into music . I started to learn and play guitar when I was 11 years old with my best friend, my brother of heart Fred Chapellier, who is here in France recognized as the n°1 of Blues. We were only kids when we were truant spending our time listening, slowing down vinyls to study and practice every riff, every phrasing of Ritchie Blackmore of Gary Moore and so one… I’ve always been playing with many artists and bands since I finally found the voice I was looking for and decided to form my own band.

Gipsy: I came into music thanks to my parents who decided one day, when I was 6, that a piano would be something nice as a decoration in their house.  Then, have followed classical piano lessons…till I discovered female and jazzy voices !

  • What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2023 and beyond into 2024?

Lionel: Well, we will play in some beautiful venues, and we will be openers for great artists and bands such as Ana Popovic or The Cinelli Brothers for example. We will promote on stage our 2 albums and can’t wait to meet more and more people to share our universe !

  • For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at? And were can they find your music?

Gipsy: They of course can buy our albums at the end of the shows, but for those who won’t come to France this year, you can find them on our website and legal download platforms here, and please; like, share, subscribe !! Let’s stay tuned !

  • Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

Lionel: Black Country Communion !

  1. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would you choose?

Lionel: Without any hesitation I would like to open for Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gales, Deborah Bonham …

Gipsy: Joanne Shaw Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Jade Macrae ( who is a fabulous Australian soul singer, and backing vocals for Joe Bonamassa and who has also written with me the last song of our album « This is us » !)

From the Green Room Feature Band: Little King

1 0
Read Time:7 Minute, 7 Second

Thanks for taking some time to chat with From the Green Room

1. What’s the name of the band?

Good morning from Tucson, AZ. This is Ryan Rosoff, singer/songwriter/guitarist for the band Little King. We’ve been making music since 1997, and the new single “Silver Tongue,” is available on 3/25 worldwide. It’s a celebration of 25 years of releases…I think it’s quite a good period at the end of a very long run-on sentence.

2. Where are you from?

I grew up in Seattle in the 1980’s, but all of the music we’ve made since the first album, Transmountain (1997), has been recorded in El Paso, Texas. So, the short answer is almost always El Paso.

I’ve moved around a lot, but our home studio is at Eddy Garcia’s place in EP. He is also the engineer and drummer for Little King. In addition, most of the musicians throughout the years who’ve appeared on our albums are El Pasoans. It’s not the biggest city, but man is the musical history and talent rich. At The Drive In (then Mars Volta and Sparta), Pissing Razors, Khaled, all the way back to Bobby Fuller…the city stacks up pretty well in the grand scheme of American Music.

The unique part of playing and recording in El Paso is that the proximity to the US/Mexican border is a huge influence on the players. Stylistically, there’s always been a great hardcore scene, and there’s also that Latin feel to a lot of music. That combo is pretty fun to work with, and while I wouldn’t ever classify Little King as Latin Rock, the undercurrent is definitely there.

3. What type of music do you play?

Shoot…you tell me! I like the term “dynamic rock,” as I know we go from pretty damn heavy to quite moody and mellow…sometimes in one song. The new song, “Silver Tongue,” has all of that and more. Because it is a celebration of our history as a push into the NEXT 25 years, I wanted to throw the whole kitchen sink in. And so we did, and the track is about 6 plus minutes long. I’m cool with that…so much to say!

Sometime ago, we were classified as Prog Rock, but the Prog community was kind of like “Ehhhhh…maybe not.” There are a ton of time sigs that hopefully flow well together, and it’s thematic and heavy. If you can’t find something in the new song that speaks to you, then perhaps we aren’t your favorite band! But I am pleased, and I think the almost-prog fanbase will rock out to it.

4. Introduce yourselves to the readers and tell us what you do in the band?

As I said, I’m Ryan, and I play guitar and sing. I’ve also written and produced all of Little King’s music (the name “Little King” is actually a Gaelic translation of “Ryan.”)

Manny Tejeda from Delaware by way of the Dominican Republic is on the bass for the new track, and he’s also played on the last two record, Occam’s Foil and Amuse De Q. The aforementioned Eddy Razor Garcia is the drummer, and he’s been the studio drummer since 2007.

5. This is probably a common question but one that most want to know, what musical

influences did you have growing up, and what are some now?

While it IS a common question, the answer is no less complicated than it was the first time I was asked!

We all grew up in different places and eras, a bit, although Eddy and I are closer in age and Manny is bringing up the rear. Ed and I both love Rush, Zeppelin, ACDC, and the older metal from the 80’s. Ed is in a Texas thrash band called Pissing Razors, and his influences probably run a bit “heavier” than mine. Manny is a 90’s kid, so he loves Deftones, Korn, etc. Pretty diverse, honestly, and you add in their Latin music roots, and you get a kind of weird hybrid of styles and influences.

I do love hip-hop, especially from the West Coast 90’s era. Also a huge fan of reggae, particularly Peter Tosh. Also recently listening to stuff like Don Shirley (the protagonist from the move “Green Book,”) Scott Walker, John Mellencamp, the Grateful Dead, Tool, and more. So much more…

6. Have you always been into music? Was it something that just came to you

naturally?

I was lucky to grow up on the world’s greatest rock station, KISW, 99.9 FM in Seattle. Man…I cannot tell you how much that influenced my neighborhood back in the 80’s. They had some great DJ’s like Steve Slaton and Bo Roberts who played weird stuff like Billy Thorpe and longer Rush tracks. Rock music was front and center, but no one really played in my family. My bro was a huge influence, too, though. He did play clarinet and then bass guitar, and I stole a ton of his records and had stereo wars with him in our house all the time. Poor mom and dad.

I heard “Xanadu” at about age 11, and then “Eruption” and “Run to the Hills” as well, and I was hooked. I NEEDED to know how to do that! So mom bought me a beat up old Takamine electric, and then my dad got a Washburn acoustic (which I still use) in about 1988. Slowly but surely, I started to learn chords and taugh myself some scales. Still hooked here in 2023!

7. What can we expect from the band in the rest of 2022 and beyond into 2023?

As I said, the new single “Silver Tongue” comes out on 3/25. “Silver Tongue” is the triumphant culmination of 25+ years of Little King releases. This single is a celebration of our history with a bone-jarring right cross into the future. Moody, groovy, heavy, and complex, “Silver Tongue” stands as the quintessential LK opus.

The band is the same as I mentioned before, and the team is the same as we used for the last album:

Engineered by: Eddy Razor Garcia at Krank Studios in El Paso, TX,,,Mixed by: Daniel Salcido at Command Space Audio in Los Angeles, CA…Mastered by: Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering, California, USA

We also filmed our live shows from last September, so I am editing audio and video as we speak. Hoping to have a good chunk of the shows available as a live video release in the late-spring. Very exciting stuff, as we’ve not released a live album before. From there, we will tour October 7-15 throughout the western US, then we will see our fans in November on the east coast. Would love to hit Europe, too…will see how things go.

8. For someone who wants to know more about the band, were can they find you at?

And were can they find your music?

Thanks for asking! We have everything you need over at www.littlekingtunes.com or on fb/ig/twitter/YouTube @littlekingtunes.  All of our albums are available to stream on Apple Music, and the most recent stuff is also on Spotify etc. If you just search “Little King Silver Tongue,” you’ll find it. But yeah, the web site is a great place to get acquainted and learn more about what we’ve been grinding away on for a long time.

9. Let’s answer some fun questions, what is your all time favorite band?

Oh, I am a Rush geek for sure. Ed would say ACDC, I think, and Manny would probably say Deftones or Korn. You’ll have to ask them, though! Steely Dan and the Talking Heads also get honorable mention.

10. If you could tour with any band and open or have them open for you, who would

you choose?

Dave Grohl and I are of similar age and countenance, I think. Our music fits what he does, too. You know him? Have him holler. Would also love to open for Tool/A Perfect Circle, or maybe someone like Chevelle. Can’t really say too much more, but we will take it if it makes sense.

Thanks for chatting with me From the Green Room and look forward to chatting

again in the future.

From the Green Room review of Plastic Barricades-Counting Fireworks (Single 2023)

Read Time:34 Second

Once again Plastic Baricades has hit it out of the park with the uplifting track that give you hope from listening to the lyrics “Counting Fireworks” celebrates new beginnings, the power of change and that growth potential is limitless for us.

The track has a video that accompanies it, as usual it has the “Plastic Baricades” touch to it as they once again do something that is different from the norm, in this case the video was shot in one take, without editing or cutting, and it still takes you on a bizarre trip of memories, dreams and visons of the future.
